Inspiring Passion and Excellence in Every Swing
The Green Valley Racquet Association (GVRA) was born from a simple observation: the kids didn’t want to stop playing. In 2024, after the Denver Tennis Park concluded a three-week program at Green Valley Elementary, a dedicated group of 20 students stayed on the courts, eager for more.
Seeing this untapped potential, the idea of launching a non-profit came to fruition through a powerhouse leadership team. Brian Kennedy, a 25-year veteran physical education teacher with an extensive and fantastic competitive tennis background, teamed up with local advocate Dan DeBenedittis. Dan brings a high level of expertise as an RSPA Professional, holding a USTA Coaching 1 certification and being Safe Play certified. They were soon joined by Glen Bailis, a former Northglenn High School girls’ tennis coach who also holds a USTA Coaching 1 level and is Safe Play certified. Together, they are dedicated to providing a high-quality, secure, and professional environment for every player.
Our Vision for the Future
While our roots are in youth tennis, our sights are set on a total revitalization of racquet sports in Green Valley Ranch. Our immediate focus is on the four existing local courts, which currently require significant TLC and refurbishing. Through dedicated advocacy and strategic partnerships with local businesses and community leaders, we are committed to restoring these spaces into high-quality facilities the neighborhood can be proud of.
Growing the Game
As we breathe life back into our current infrastructure, GVRA is looking eventually toward a vibrant future that includes:
- Competitive Play: Launching local leagues and sanctioned tournaments for players of all ages and skill levels.
- Expanding Access: Advocating for and developing brand-new courts to accommodate the growing demand for both tennis and pickleball.
- Community Connection: Organizing clinics and social events that use racquet sports as a bridge to bring neighbors together.
At GVRA, we believe that every swing is an opportunity for personal growth. By investing in our courts today, we are building a thriving, active, and connected community for tomorrow.
